The news just isn't getting any better for the Dallas Cowboys. As if Tony Romo (finger) being out of the lineup wasn't bad enough for the Cowboys offense, now another key offensive threat in tight end Jason Witten found out he suffered a fractured rib in last weekend's win over the Tampa Bay Bucs.
Although as a tight end, Witten puts a lot of blocks on people and gets hit quite a bit, he stills says he wants to play in the big game against division rival New York Giants in week 9. Risky play for Witten as the pain could be unbearable depending how Wade Phillips uses him against the Giants.
Whether you are a Dallas Cowboys fan or not, you have to feel for these guys! The Cowboys have arguably the most talented football team in the NFL right now, especially on offense. The problem is they just can't seem to stay healthy. First it was Romo going down with the finger injury, then Roy Williams with a broken arm on defense, rookie running back Felix Jones (who was looking really good) and now Pro Bowl tight end Jason Witten.
Believe it or not, as of right now Jason Witten is the leading receiver on the Cowboys. With 46 receptions, 2 touchdowns and 549 yards Witten is a serious threat to a opposing defense every time he steps foot on the gridiron for Dallas.
Even though some critics are really hammering on the Cowboys because of expectations coming into this season, Dallas is starting to regain some much need momentum after the win over Tampa Bay. The offense still needs work, even more so now with Witten's injury, but if any team can pull it together it is the Dallas Cowboys.
